Have never seen anything like this and can only describe it as an ecclesiastical tree house! Amazing craftsmanship and to think that it was created and has survived so many years is incredible. Free entrance too - only in France :) Well worth a stop off to climb the stairs.

Nice place to visit if it's on your way. And the city is really cute also.
Beautiful. This chapel inside a huge tree is quite interesting. It's better looking from the outside than the inside. WARNING: when we visited this town in late July the whole village had a plague of tiny little bugs, about 2-3 millilitre long and half a mm thick. They were pitch black with long tail and could fly. They did not bite but got all over us, arms, legs, clothes and outside the car. We had a bad time getting rid of them, specially when many more where in the air and kept coming. We only got rid of them inside the car with the windows shut. We notice that the cars were full of them as well as any outdoor surface. They were harmless to our knowledge but very annoying. I hope it was only a bad season!
very little charming town...this tiny oak tree Church soo cute....
The oldest tree in France. It's 1200 years old. It became a church centuries ago. The inner stem shrank naturally to become a big core.
It is one of the Old Oak tree. Long time ago a Monk start living inside this tree. Once should visit this tree...
Nice tree 1200 years old
A majestic old creature, a must see if you love trees as much as I do!
