When I come here I usually order some saoto soup as starters with baka banana and as a main the Spang Makandra special with a Dawet or a Markoesa juice. The food is tasty and it is always busy which says something. A small downside is that your clothes will start to smell when you eat inside the restaurant.

Tasty Surinam food. Big servings and full of flavour. Unfortunately, it took our meals a long time to be served, whilst others got theirs before us despite arriving after us. All in all, a nice feed.

Spang makandra serves one of the most delicious Surinamese (with Java influence). Definitely try the Spang Makandra special which mixes fried noodles with fried rice and some delicious cuts of meat, such a satay skewer and java chicken! The peanut sauce is mild and not too spicy for those who can't handle too much spicy. The yellow Madame Jeannette chili sauce can be used to spike up the spicyness, but beware, only for those who handle high Scofield levels. Spang makandra is one of my go-to take-aways in case there is one nearby.
