A Gentleman and a true Gentle-man. And that is in addition to listening to the patient. The patient in this case was myself. An emergency admittance to one of Atlanta's major hospitals was met unfortunately by a man who was non-staffed and unfortunately did not understand English. Thus as hard as I tried to explain why I was ambulanced to this hospital in great pain, he unfortunately did not comprehend the true emergency of my condition. A retired oral surgeon, I will do what most any doctor so instructs. I will and cannot allow for treatment that according to my own circumstances and lack of communication could lead o my demise. Dr. Maloney was called at my request for a second opinion when another doctor ordered that a tube be (and it was) inserted into the Vena Cava of my heart. Done in order to deliver antibiotics when nothing truly indicated or called for a measure which I would not be able to carry out. Dr. Maloney had the kindness and decency to listen as to why I felt this improper. After explaining to me the possible downsides he agreed that under the circumstances I was not a good candidate for this insertion. Nine weeks showed no growth of any type. Thank you again Doctor Maloney. Thank you Meaning no harm, it is now almost 4 years and I still have not a copy of my Bill from this Hospital. Nor did the Administrative Department ever return a single call. When and if you must be admitted make certain that you know what your legal rights are. Do not be intimidated into doing or having done something to you unless you understand who is doing this? Are they qualified? If you see anyone who is supposed to be taking care of you and they do not wash their hands before and after touching you, report it to someone who will have the authority to reprimand that person. Remember, it is your life they are dealing with. It is your responsibility to protect it. Be courteous yet careful. To LIFE, the only reality Dr. William Cole
