I'm very disappointed in Specialty Care Institute! We went for an appointment in Barrington as scheduled and the office was closed! Today we went for an appointment in Barrington and they said that my mother in law's appointment was in Elgin, which we have never gone to before. The office people who schedule us has messed up 2 times too many and it's hard enough to get my elderly mother in law to her appointments as it is. She will be searching for a new doctor whose office staff is more competent. I would not recommend this place.
Great doctors, but the system makes sure to let you know that they are very concerned about getting paid. It comes off a bit too strong and definitely makes the operation seem all about money, not health. Too many policies, too many signatures, a 35 cancellation fee (more than the highest copay), and the model has a strong business feel that’s driven by making the utmost profits. Although they claim that you can fill out your paper work online, that feature actually doesn’t work. So on the one hand they are aggressive in how they manage the financial aspect of their operation but totally behind in terms of providing services to make the patients’ lives a bit easier when filling out paperwork, managing or accessing their accounts (a feature that doesn’t exist) and even making the online submission system operational; non of that! They’re investing very little in patient technology to maximize their shirt term profits, hoping to sustain their patient base (which tends to be at the older end).The facilities in Barrington are old, and the rooms are incoherent in terms of flooring, equipment, desks, chairs and furniture. It has an aesthetically unpleasant feel given these characteristics. It’s definitely a late 1990s facility at best.
Don't bother, look for better place rude, and can't keep the word. Before endoscopy they said that out pocket will be 50 but after procedure gave me bill for 420. I paid 50 as agreed so they put me in collections for 370. This office, will never see me, my family or my friends. How much of experience do you need to calculate out of pocket expense to put a camera in my nose to tell that deviated septum needs correction? Best way to lose your business: don't keep your word. Keep going this way and soon you will close your office. In a past you could threaten us (patients) with collections etc., now we have ability to spread a word online about you and your services.
