I first used Boston Art & Framing about eight years ago when I came back from London with a page published in a newspaper in 1876. Dave did an outstanding job with framing it so that it looks like it just came off the newsstand. He even took a photo of the back side of the paper and attached the photo to the back of the frame so that I can always remember what was there. Most recently I took a trip to Spain where I purchased two beautiful ceiling tiles that date to the late 1500s. I went in with some initial thoughts about how best to display them, and he immediately went to work with coming up with some very creative solutions to the framing. He recommended a beautiful frame with an interesting curve that is absolutely perfect. They look magnificent in my living room, and I've already received so many compliments. Dave also is an extremely pleasant guy with a nice sense of humor. You can see that he really wants to make sure that his customers are pleased with the end result. I also loved it that when I walked in the shop this time that he was playing Gregorian chants in the background. It was a perfect moment because I had been told the tiles I purchased in Spain might have been part of a monastery at one point. Perfect ambience, Dave!
At Boston Art and Framing you can expect the best service on all ends of the spectrum. I've been a loyal costumer here for almost 5 years, and have not once left disappointed. Owner Dave and assistants Natalya and Christopher have framed everything for me from large finished charcoal drawings, to sentimental keepings from my childhood. Whether you're in search for a cozy finish for that flea market find you've been dying to hang in your kitchen, or you're premiering in your first gallery opening in search of a sophisticated approach-- Boston Art and Framing is your go to neighborhood framing professional.
This place has the highest quality of work in the city at the heart of Boston. There is a lovely gallery downstairs as we'll.
We've been going to Dave for 16 years....and have at least 15 pieces of "art work" framed by him. I only put "art work" in quotation marks because he's framed the gamut for us: really good quality original art work, a collection of Christmas cards from the 1950s featuring fun pictures of my husband's family from his early childhood, a beautiful original painting I bought from a street painter in China for the equivalent of 5 US, recent family portraits, and a photo of my dad and his twin sister from the early 1900s! He's taken care with each and every one of them and, as you can imagine, each framing is unique and complements the photo, piece of art etc. He'll work with you individually in regards to your taste and your budget. Large selection of frames and an artist for a framer. Just absolutely can not be beat! And, he plays the spoons at the Beacon Hill Christmas Walk Open House! :) Our highest kudos and recommendation!
