Beautiful basilica in the Cité of Caracassonne. Gorgeous stained glass, intricately carved organ, a relatively modern but lovely statue of Jeanne d'Arc, and incredible architecture. It fits right in this incredible area.

The first church, built in the 6th century, has completely disappeared. The first written references to the present basilica date from 925. It has two architectural styles, Romanesque and Gothic. Inside the basilica there is a large organ (just when I walked in it was playing Christmas music, awesome!), of which there are references that already existed in 1637, considered one of the oldest in the French Midi.
This lovely church as some very beautiful stained glass. It is also a great place to find peace away from the crowded streets of busy Carcassonne. Even if religions aren't you thing, you can't do anything but stay in awe in front of such magnificence and craftsmanship! In par with the rest of the city, I strongly recommend see the Basilique Saint Nazaire.
Much like Carcasonne overwhelmed by tourists. The cathedral itself is alright but even inside its somewhat commercialized.
Basilica in the middle of Carcassone. Amazing and big. the details of the mosaics are amazing.
I've visited Carcassonne several times during my travels in France. Each time, we also visited this beautiful church. The stained glass, and inside architecture are awe inspiring.
Must see if you visit this amazing city
