The Thomas Cole National Historic site has a lot of rich history in beautiful artwork of the Catskill Region. I was able to capture the ambiance of that when I visited the location. The Hudson River Skywalk offered altitude views and also was very safe. The locals are very friendly, it was a good experience.

This is a lovely place to visit despite not being able to go inside the houses. The grounds are serene and peaceful. It was amazing to be able to explore around the houses. The view from the house was beautiful. I got an explorer kit with some wonderful things. My kids especially enjoyed them. I recommend a visit if you’re in the area. Afterwards, you can have a walk over the RIP Van Winkle Bridge, it’s around the corner. A plus!

I never knew I wanted to visit this site until I stumbled upon it, looking for things to do on my drive back down to NYC. Totally worth a visit! The insides are closed currently due to COVID but the grounds are gorgeous and still worth a visit! I peaked into the windows that I could and would love to go back and see inside Thomas Cole's studio. Very interesting to learn a little more about an American painter in the 1800's. Bathrooms were open near the main house, even during COVID. Park here and walk over to the Rip Van Winkle Bridge to enjoy the views of the Hudson! You can walk over the bridge or just enjoy the small park/view.

Walking through here a few hours before sunset was ideal. The light covers everything in a golden glow, perfect if you’d like a pic on the stairs. You can then enjoy the sunset out over the trees and hills. A great way to spend a peaceful evening!

Great little public space, easy to find and has an interesting history. Car park lot was pretty much empty. Buildings are in great condition and it was a short pleasurable walk around learning about the site.
