On our visit to Tintern Abbey you have to walk around to see the rest of what the lovely places have to offer....We picked the wrong day axon our trip The Abbey Mill Gift Shop was closed but looking through the windows it seemed to be a well stocked shop with lots of lovely gifts on offer...the cafes next to the Mill were also closed a shame as they looked really nice...The Abbey itself was also closed but the white Monk Cafe and Anchor Inn were both open so there was somewhere to get refreshments...we will have to pay another visit when it all gets back to normal....
The afternoon tea here was the best I've ever had and I've had many. There was a selection of savouries as well as the cakes and there was so many cakes I had to bring some home. The cakes were delicious and fresh, nothing store bought or average. Plenty of jam, mini roddas clotted cream each. Really was just delightful and the staff were really friendly when it came to boxing up the leftovers and other things like pointing out the one way system in place because of COVID. I definitely will come back if I'm in the area. Five stars
Abbey Mill is a collection of lovely shops and a super cafe, in a beautiful old mill setting. The shops include wonderful, locally made art and craft, often depicting area of the amazing Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, in which beautiful Tintern village nestles.
Some really pretty areas to sit and enjoy your surroundings with grass area for picnics, seating benches, pretty pond, water mill that comes on every hour or so and several craft and gift shops where you can find yourself a treat. There were also places to buy food and drinks that seemed popular with the tourists. Visit the gift shop dewn by the mill, the owner is really friendly and she sells some amazing glass art (look downstairs to see a huge range of gifts)
