If it's winter in Chicago, you gotta make sure to stop and skate the ribbon. It's a great experience no matter the weather! The staff was friendly and helpful. The ice was freshly surfaced and made for a perfect time skating. They give you about an hour and a half which was plenty of time.

Nice since it's a track it helps to be a little more socially distant than your standard oval. There are these weighted penguins you can rent for 10 to help with 1st time skaters which was a blessing with my young one. Can't beat the view and location

This is a really thoughtfully designed and well-run place, especially with the pandemic situation going on. You can register / make a reservation for a window online. The ribbon is quite spacious and provides some great views of the city in the backdrop. There’s a place to drop bags, and a food cart for refreshments.

Since covid this place is the pits. They reserve fixed, limited spots for people who don't rent skates. So for me the price increased from 0 to 16 to visit for most days. The rental price is high and frankly, with covid, why are they even renting skates? Just sell them all and make people bring their own. I understand they don't want to disappoint people so added a sign up site with limited people. But you can't see what days are booked up (most are) so you have to click on each day, see it is booked. Close the window. Go back to the master calendar and try another day. And the ice is made artificially so why close in the end of Feb????? Another great idea being ruined by the City of Chicago.
