So, here's an honest review. I went for the Sunday Carvery (7th April), so I'm just back.
Had heard great reports about here, so thought I would try it for myself.
Be aware though, you do need to book in advance or you may not get a table.
The carvery costs 15 and includes starters (as much as you want), mains, desserts (again as much dessert as you want and tea and coffee. Oh and you get a jug of orange juice on each table.
Now, I cannot fault the food, there is a great range of everything.
Starters, there is a vast range of fish, salads, cold meats, pizza, garlic bread, fruit, cheeses, soup and sauces, so a very good selection.
Mains, a choice of meats (Turkey, ham, lamb, beef & pork) and a great range of veg, potatoes, chips, roasties and Yorkshire pudding. Only gravy for your warm sauce option.
Desserts, oh my, well, they had bannoffi, cheesecake, ice cream, jelly, custard (hot and cold, sponge cake, chocolate cake, apple tart, rhubarb tart and pavlova, so a great selection. But, the fruit was already on the pavlova and it unfortunately contained kiwi, so I couldn't have any with being allergic :(
Now, the reason why I've only given 3 stars...I couldn't eat all of my main, so I asked for a box. The girl said she didnt think they had any but she would go and check with the boss. She then come back and said the boss said they didn't have any boxes! Now, you can buy a main for take away, so I highly doubt they didnt have any boxes. Obviously it wasn't the servers fault, but her attitude could have definitely been better. They would be happy to take my 15, but not let me take most if my main course home! I wasnt to be beat though, I went to a nearby shop an bought my own container. Ridiculous that I had to do so and this has NEVER happened at any other establishment I have been too!
There were 6 of us eating today, so the food alone was 90 and I couldnt get a box?
So, all in all, the food was good, but the customer service was poor.
