During the time I spent I spent in Leighton Hospital and as an out patient I have to say that I have been treated extremely well. I arrived by ambulance and was examined within minutes before being sent up to the ward. The nurses on duty were very professional and caring towards my needs and made me feel less anxious. The team in the theatre were very professional and ensured that I was aware of all that was going on which I believe is essential theses days. As an out patient at Leighton and depending on what department you require it is possible that you might have to wait as long as a couple of hours especially if it is the eye department. However we all know the pressure the NHS is under these days so these delays while unwelcome are accepted. There are a couple of cafés where you can get drinks and a meal plus a shop. The car park can be very busy at times and of course you have to pay. All in all a decent hospital but with very long corridors.
I was seen within the hour by a lovely doctor. Problem was diagnosed straight away and treated immediately. I had never felt so much relief and put at ease when I felt I was wasting A&E time. \It's what we are here for\ was just the reasurance that I needed. Very happy to be relieved from such excruciating pain.
I was in Leighton hospital for 32 days as well as surgery. They were brilliant with brand new wards being updated. Nurses, doctors, porters, cleaners, healthcares every member of staff were brilliant. I gave 4 stars because AnE let it down, I asked for a sick tray and I got ignored untill I was sick on the floor and then got shouted at. However they did rush me through to majors because it was bright red.
