Breathtaking views from a location with enormous history. Lovely walk from car park all the way around is just under 3 miles mainly small inclines with a few notable stiff climbs but suitable for most able bodied folk. The ditches are of a scale which photos fail to portray.

Beautiful place to go if you have active children who might want to let some steam out. Lovely

Amazing iron age hillside fort!! Great place to walk the dog or have a picnic on the banks overlooking the historic town of Dorchester. Small free carpark. No entry cost but site is managed by English heritage. The fort is huge and the earthworks are astounding particularly at the gatehouse. Amazing to think it was built thousands of years ago!

This is a fascinating site with a very ancient history, given it was all built by hand the site is incredibly impressive. What surprised me more was the range of wildlife that is present. On a very windy and at times wet day it was remarkable to watch some Kestrels hunting prey within the trenches dug within the earth works, at least five individual Kestrels along just the north side of the earth works.

Read the history of the development of this awesome site. It is huge, just think of of the manpower that has gone into it, to create the scale & size of this historic mini town and it's defences. Take a look around the landscape surrounding it and appreciate the significance of its situation. Use your imagination and think about the inhabitants and what they did back in the day and you will get a whole lot more from your visit. Plus, it is good exercise!
