Pretty awful experience when I visited pre-Covid. My experience echoes a lot for the reviews on here, rude unhelpful staff with attitude problems. It’s a shame as from what I understand this is Edinburgh’s only real gay club, perhaps why that’s why they feel like they don’t really need to treat their costumers well as there’s no competition? My advice for anyone else visiting Edinburgh who is looking for an night out in an LGBT venue? Jump on a train down the road to Glasgow - where there are plenty of great LGBT venues which are very welcoming indeed.

My husband and I visited ccblooms for the first time this evening and will never return again. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. My husband ordered the El nacho burger which was average, I ordered the pork belly on flat bread which was dreadful. It came on a standard flat bread (which can be bought in any store), and the pork belly was literally 4 pieces of diced pork (not even belly pork as advertised), and was cooked within an inch of its life, dry as charcoal and uneatable!! When I explained this to the server, he advised me he would talk to the chef. As we finished our drink and waited for the server to come back to us, he didn’t. So I sought the server out and asked him what the chef had to say about my comment. He advised the chef was disappointed with the supplier ( a new supplier), and was about to give us a free drink (as we were leaving). The server agreed the food was poor quality, as I had shown him the food, and he said it was very dry and not edible, there was still no mention of taking the cost off the bill (which we had paid but didn’t eat). The service was less than standard, and I would advise anyone wanting to eat food not to visit ccbloom, you will be very disappointed and won’t even be offered a refund. It is a waste of money, waste of opportunity in this current climate we live in where genuine establishments are just waiting for our custom and more than happy to provide good, quality service. Shame on you ccbloom.

For context: I'm a pretty small gal, 115lbs now but I was 18 when this happened, so around 105. Came here with flatmates a while back. Accompanied my flatmate out to the smoking area. I complimented someone on their shoes, while chatting my flatmate went back in. I tried to go back in a minute later and the bouncer barred me on account of being \too drunk\... I had had a single Jack and coke on a full stomach. My phone was dead, I had no jacket, I said I was willing to be breathalysed or walk a straight line or whatever to get back in and I was refused. I said if I wasn't going to be let back in, could he at least get my flatmate to walk me home? Nope. Dude made me walk home, alone, midnight on a weekend, no jacket, phone dead, couldn't even tell my flatmate I Ieft so nobody knew where I was. Just because he felt like it. C--t.

Spike Mclarrity

I have been coming here over the years, seen many changes and still love the vibe. Great location, good selection of wines, beers and spirits. Staff are friendly. Bar is open till 3am, morphs from bar to club. Love the decor and music.
