I have been working with Leon for over a year. Leon's skills and knowledge are exceptional. What is important to me, with any instructor, is to first establish a plan of action with realistic goals. My weekly assignments are within reach and the progress has been significant. Leon, presents the material and explains what (all) is happening in each musical movement. The value of this musical picture is I am now able to view all forms of music and look past the notes. Whether your into blues, jazz, rock or a classical player, I believe it is crucial to understand how, what and why you are playing this music that you are presenting and that inwardly is calling to you. All top notch musicians know and understand what and why they are presenting their music. Leon can and will help you understand and execute your own inner music passion. The notes are just a small part of the bigger picture we call MUSIC!

The school has really good teachers in all levels and all instruments. The owner Leon is very knowledgeable, fun and has a strong passion in music and music education. He spends a lot of time in the studio to teach and makes the studio better in terms of the environment and teaching quality. I take my daughter to learn piano in the school with Miss Katya. She is great, very friendly, sweet to kids, and also hold them to do it right. I really like her style when kids building their music foundations. BTW, they also have group classes if you want to try it out and make some music friends.

The teachers at this school are rich with diversity, culture, technique, knowledge, empathy, and a genuine desire to share their love of music. I started guitar lessons here three years ago at the age of 57, thinking I would learn a few chords to play. My teacher has taught me music theory, culture, history (interesting, fantastic stuff), technique, rhythm, jazz, blues, celtic, country, rock, fingerstyle, and reading music. I am so proud and grateful for all I have learned! I would have given up if not for my teacher's care and encouragement. I have also observed the exceptional kind, patient way the teachers teach and share their passion for music with children. It is a family environment. If you want a ich\ musical education for you or your children (seniors, it's never too late to enjoy learning to play an instrument) I recommend the Federal Way Music School.

Both of my sons have been studying bass with Leon for over 6 years. They thrive as musicians, not just bass players, as a result of their training. I know the same high expectations are in place for every instructor at Federal Way School of Music to ensure a quality and professional institution for music education. Although my sons have only studied with Leon, every instructor I've met has been professional, skilled, and supportive to students. There truly is no better place for private music instruction in Federal Way.
