The rental service was great and I was offered a choice of two cars with the mystery car selection I made online. Everything went swiftly and the car drove well. I just wish I was told more about the car i.e. the car takes petrol, so I did not have to figure it out in the forecourt, but that was minor. One thing that did make me a little annoyed was the recorded mileage was 200 miles more than I had done. I had unlimited mileage but for those that do not, it's worth checking the milage before hand. Also, they did not come out to review the car with you. You simply get the keys and drive off. An email is sent to you and you must check it. The I my problem is I got mine the night before I travelled and didn't realise this. So be mindful.
Despite being a gold member, car has twice not been immediately available on arrival at Aberdeen. This time a 45min wait. The car was dirty to boot. Finally Hertz rep explained car has to be returned after only 48hrs as it was “old”... in fact it has 9000miles. Vehicle was replaced by 28,000mile, beater with scratches, noisy engine that needed oil change, inoperable fuel filler door and tire pressures that were 10psi over manufacturer recommendations. There was also no damage report supplied for replacement vehicle, so I took lots of photos. On returning vehicle, Hertz Aberdeen claimed additional damage (which I have disputed, with photo evidence). NOT the level of service I expect or usually get at Hertz.
Did a walk-in. The guy at the counter was super friendly and the price was reasonable for a non-advance booking. After few days I just dropped the keys in the mailbox in the evening. My deposit was returned after a week, as told. The price was charged as told, no hidden fees afterwards. Will use Hertz again.
