I provide ground pet transport service in and around Houston and I am often asked to clear pets through customs after international arrival, then deliver pet(s) to the owners home. Ive always received courteous, professional and timely service from the customs officers at the counter. If you have any trouble then its likely your records are not in order. Its not a fancy office and there is parking however only 5 spots.

Last Wednesday I experienced an inhuman attitude at passport control. I was coming back from vacation from Cancun with my wife and special needs son ( he is on wheelchair). My wife and my son American citizens. I live in USA 29 years, I have a green card and travel passport, I'm a law abiding. They hold me for nothing, not even a single question in special room for over a 2 hours. My special need child was so frustrated. Of course we miss connection flight. They knew I have a special needs child, but they don't care. I told them he need an attention, but no reaction. I asked them what is the problem, what is wrong with my documents, but they ignore. After 2 hours, called my name, and gave me my documents quietly, no single question was asked, and free to go. UNBELIEVABLE. If you guys have an international connection flight in Houston, you are in trouble. Avoid those connections in Houston, because they don't care.

I found the officers here friendly. However, there are multiple actions that could be implemented to make the place better. The place is not accessible by public transport (the nearest metro shuttle stop is about 2 miles away. And you cannot walk to this place as there are no sidewalks along the road.) You must come here using a personal vehicle or hire a car. The place does not have public restrooms (possibly and justified due to security concerns) or drinking water facility. The nearest restroom is at a gas station close to the office. The number of chairs available would, on an average, be less than the people waiting. Some people have to stand waiting for their turn. The waiting time could be anywhere between 1-1.5 hr. If you have to visit, please carry your own water, and come in a car.

Terrible service by very arrogant officers. I had an issue that a mistake made by CBP but they had no interest in being courteous or professional. Shame there is no choice in using this service.
