We, my beloved half Scottish redhead and I, had the extreme privilege of using Orkney Uncovered on two visits to Orkney about a year apart. Kinlay Francis is extremely knowledgeable, personable and larger than life. His grasp of the history of this wonderful set of islands seems endless and his ability to couch that knowledge in such a manner as to keep one rapt with attention makes his guide service a must when visiting this treasure trove of history and he never forgets to highlight the beauty of this place.

My wife and I booked Orkney Uncovered for a two-day tour as part of our honeymoon in May 2018. We were definitely looking forward to an amazing time, but we had no idea how truly perfect the tour would be. Coordinating the event before-hand was a total breeze. Kirsty is punctual, friendly, and made the whole process super simple for us. Emails were prompt, itineraries were robust, questions were quickly answered. Once our tour began, we met Kinlay–tour guide extraordinaire. He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and generous with both his time and spirit. In addition, his competence and flexibility put our minds completely at ease. Anything we might have needed through the day, Kinlay had covered. He worked hard to make our trip as comfortable and pleasant as possible. As we walked along cliff tops and Neolithic sites, my wife asked question after question, both vague and specific. I asked kind of silly ones, and Kinlay answered all of them without missing a beat. He skirted the perfect line between leader and companion—offering facts and historical details without it ever feeling like a one-sided lecture. This tour was the highlight of the best trip we have ever been on, and we're already looking forward to a second visit. It was well-worth the price we paid, and more. Kirsty and Kinlay both worked with us to make sure we got the experience we were looking for, and they exceeded all our expectations. If you ever find yourself in Orkney and want a once-in-a-lifetime experience, give Orkney Uncovered a call. You will not be disappointed.

I've made five trips to Orkney, and each time had an absolutely sterling experience with Kinlay Francis and Orkney Uncovered. By far the most dependable and accommodating small-group tour guide we've used, and certainly among the most knowledgeable of any in the business. His vehicle is immaculately maintained, and because he specializes in small group tours, the attention to detail, and the willingness to make small changes based on our areas of special interest were always well-handled. We've seen both the major Orkney sites, and the out of the way places. We've hiked up Hoy's Ward Hill, and all around Mull Head. Visited Papa Westray and wandered along the sea coast to the remote and only partially preserved sites. If you want the best in guides in the Scottish Isles, Kinlay Francis and Orkney Uncovered are your best bet. On our next trip, we're venturing to new locales with Orkney Uncovered. Can't wait to get it underway.

Kinlay recently took me across to Hoy. We visited Rackwick Bay and the Old Man. Great tour with a really hospitable and informative guide. Please think of Orkney Uncovered next time you book a tour

If you are on Orkney...you should book Kinlay. No doubt. Worth every penny and many more. Absolutely one of my favorite things I did in all of Scotland while visiting. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, and darn funny!
