There are many statues alongside the Thames and this is part of what makes wandering on Queens Walk so much fun. I did not expect to find there a statue of famed actor Laurence Olivier, but here we go. Yes it is a bit small, and? I like the floating cape and the sword, which makes it look more like a medieval character. Nice work of art!
This statue seems to be slightly too small. However it is perfectly situated as Laurence Olivier was the founding director of the National Theatre. It was erected in 2007.
Aptly located next to the BFI Cinema building is this statue tribute to Laurence Olivier. This is going to be one of those pieces of art sure to induce polarised views on it's artistic merits. Much like the grinning bust of Cristiano Ronaldo, the only emotion this work of art evokes is a sense of derision. This statue has the proportions of a child and looks nothing like the man, or any man.
Un gran actor con su merecido homenaje. Lástima que algún chistoso había puesto una botella de plástico en su espada el día que pasé.
