Was a previous Member of the gym and attempted cancel my membership due to falsifying what locations I was allowed access to. After sending multiple emails and attempting to communicate with the club manager and other managers I went in person where manager stated my membership was cancelled. I just received a letter in the mail for an 700 plus balance stating that they were going to take legal action for a matter that should have been handled a year and a half ago. Please stay away from this gym at all cost the staff is extremely unprofessional and will attempt to do anything to make a quick buck. Not hearing or receiving an email for a year and a half then receiving a bill is a terrible way to do business especially seeing that I haven't been to any of their locations since that specified cancellation month.

I would never recommend joining this or any genesis, I was a former member and they refused to cancel my membership so I stopped paying. Well two years later they sued me. Do not trust any of the sales staff you are signing up for a year membership it is NOT month to month even if they say it is and they will not cancel your membership for any reason. You can find plenty of similar stories if you browse the web about this organization. My brother had also joined this gym recently even though I had warned him not to and he ended up joining the army, the general manager made him send in his papers to prove that he was actually going to join the army and not be in town anymore and still did not cancel his membership. We lived together before he left for basic and they still send in letters and when I tried calling to tell them he doesn’t live here anymore they just say they don’t have the power to cancel the membership, I have to talk to someone else or some other runaround. Literally go to any gym except Genesis.

This is NOT an ADA complaint faculty. The building has two levels and no elevator. They recently went through a multi million dollar upgrade, and I was told by several people that included elevator. Just found out, no elevator still. So if you have a handicap or are disabled you will not be accommodated.

The sales representatives are shady at best. Described my scenario to a rep that I was moving within the year and he said he wanted to give me the best discount possible. Got talked into a 2 year agreement (hindsight all he was looking for was a commission boost) while promised I could get out of it without a cancellation fee with a month notice in advance, supposedly putting a note under my account detailing my situation that I was leaving in 9 months. Didn’t have an official lease in the area I am moving to so the company won’t remove my cancellation fee. The sales rep also did not actually put a note under my account. This is why you don’t put trust in a fitness corporation that does not care for their patrons besides what’s in their wallets. I’ve worked for Genesis in Manhattan and I know everything about how they operate. Literally any other gym would be a better choice. If you’re held at gunpoint to join this gym, ask for Dakota to sign you up. He’s the only sales rep there with a decent heart.
