This is some really excellent authentic Haitian food. Great prices, fast service. If we lived closer, we'd eat there a couple of times a week!

We walked into this establishment on a Saturday morning to have breakfast before our tap tap little Haiti tour. Mind you we asked the owner from the Haitian heritage museum about this place before going who stated it was a nice place to eat. After having mixed feelings about patronizing this establishment, we walked in to order. There was a guy who had ordered before us that was waiting on his food to go. A lady came up to the counter and spoke to us in half creole, half English. Also there was a lady that came from the back and didn’t say anything to us! We weren’t offered a menu and also the place looked pretty run down with lots of storage items on the chairs and tables. We looked at the menu on the wall which we could barely see because the writing was super small! The lady stated in broken English that all they had available now was stewed fish, vegetable soup, and plantains. I proceeded to attempt to order the latter two since my boyfriend doesn’t eat seafood of any kind. She stated that both items had fish in it!! We decided to leave since it was clear that was an overwhelming language barrier and the service and the establishment were obviously lacking in all areas!! Later that early afternoon, we asked our tour guide of tap tap tours if he had frequented this establishment. He stated he had been once and it was just ok. Mind you he is actually born and raised in Haiti. I asked him if we had missed anything and he said no. That told us we didn’t miss an opportunity to try Haitian food from piman bouk. If you decide to patronize this establishment in little Haiti either you or someone with you need to speak Haitian Kreyol.

Mother's Day 2020. Wanted to support a Haitian restaurant, a local black own establishment. I asked my husband to buy some oxtail with rice and beans & some legume as I patiently waited home for the food to arrive. So when the food did arrive, I was excited only to be disappointed we were served left over. The only part of the food that was fresh was the plantains. Sorry Piman Bouk never again.
