Located in the small town of monte sant'angelo. One of the many sanctuaries where St. Michael the archangel appeared and are dated in history. You can search their history in the internet. To broad to discuss here but it iw worth the read. Also this place has a overview of gargano peninsula. A great view of the ocean and mountains. You can look at the photos i have attached to this post.

A very serene Church and sanctuary located in a cave. Legends have it that St. MICHAEL the archangel consecrated the church hence no need of dedication by the Bishop. Its a place to have your sins confessed and be renewed in spirit since there are many confessionals and priests available to hear confessions. Its a must visit at Giovanni Rotondo after the tomb of Padre Pio

The Sanctuary is worth seeing. It is carved in stone. It's a working church so you will be asked to respect the place. Please note the opening times in different seasons with siesta break around mid-day. See website for details

This world-famous Sanctuary and connected Caves are in the Gargano region of eastern Italy's coastline. Medieval travelers for thousands of years passed through here on religious pilgrimages. On that route since 490 AD is the mountaintop village of Monte Sant' Angelo with it's Cave of the Archangel Michael. Through the Sanctuary you pass down numerous long flights of well-worn stone steps in karst caves and into the church.
