Every pieces of the dessert were delicious and have their own unique taste. The red bean is not sweet but very soft. The soup for this specific dessert is very light matcha taste, it is delicious!!! The shirotama dango (the white balls) are chewy. Best place to visit to taste uji matcha dessert. Very recommended.

Unique flavor, there are byodo-in exclusive desserts sold here. Normally the busiest around lunchtime and a bit after. If you are not fond of the bitterness of the green tea, opt for hojicha (roasted green tea), which offers less bitterness and smooth, sweeter aftertaste. If this location is busy you also have an option to walk down a bit further (maybe 5 mins) to the Namamuta Tokichi original shop which is right across the JR Uji Station.
After visiting Byodoin Temple, we came here to have our meals. Affordable and delicious desserts.
Very tasty. An unique experience BUT (hence 4 stars and not 5) the menu to lunch or to dine is very very limited with dishes only available during summer (between June and August). We went on May 31 and it was not available.
Great atmosphere, great matcha udon & matcha / houjicha desserts! Ideal level of flavor both savory & sweet! Plus the river view makes a perfect afternoon break!
