I'm so glad that bars are beginning to open again. I picked this place because of the name and wanted a place to hang for a while, about 2 hours, prior to going to dinner. We made a good decision. The thing is, the bartender and waitress, Aurora is what gives this place character. She is a phenomenal person and has such a great attitude. We accidentally spilled beer on the floor. She was so calm and grabbed a mop and refused us to help with cleanup. She walks around the place with a smile on her face and makes sure her customers are happy. This is a place to go and hang out while forgetting your ills. The music box you can select what you like to hear. It is a rock and roll bar with some metal but it is not too loud where you cannot have a conversation. There is a pool table in the back if you choose to play. The bathrooms are gender neutral and full of interesting posters. This is a place to definitely return to. They also have all beef hotdogs, spicy sausage and egg sausage. All were good. I plan to return and bring other friends.

Best dive bar in the city!! Friendly service with inexpensive drinks. The bartenders and owners are a delight to be around. They’ve taken precautions with Covid to maintain a safe and fun atmosphere for their employees and guest. Definitely a spot you’d want to stop by for a good drink and friendly conversation!

The Hard Swallow is my home away from home in the East Village! Big Lee and Sasha will treat you like family. Their staff are terrific! Please support this great bar run by local people of color. Don't believe in fake profiles with one stars!

Fun place to go to to meet up with friends and have a drink. Currently, due to the pandemic, they're only doing outdoor dining, as they have their meal specials with social distancing practices in place. The pics are from before the pandemic, obviously, lol. But, you can still listen to some awesome music, enjoy a snack and enjoy the company. 5*
