Fairly compact in size, so not a lot of walking to enjoy the beauty of this place, the beauty is everywhere. In the trees, the flowers, the water features and their reflections and the fish, to the Oriental style buildings and tea house. There are numerous places to sit and enjoy this beauty or to reflect and meditate. I suggest coming the first time you wonder around and enjoy it all and come back if you find this is a place why you can relax and chill and enjoy some quiet, if only for a short time.

Unique, surreal and calm experience. Beautiful architecture. Room design is very reminiscent of a Chinese home. There is a tea house. Great staff at the tea house. They have a unique filter tea cup which works as the cup, the pot and filter.
Such a surprise! Hidden in a shady part of downtown, it's quite the oasis. The informational guide is just enough to keep your interest. They were having a peonies exhibit (May 2019) and it was spectacular. Great for a lite break from the city and likely a nice day-date option with it's little tea house!
Having tea and dumplings here was the highlight of my Portland visit! Teas are of the highest grade and have a wonderful flavor. My wife and I spent about an hour here enjoying our tea and the peaceful surroundings. A local artist creates Chinese calligraphy art, and you can have one (or more) in exchange for a donation(s). We left refreshed and renewed.
A very serene place to enjoy a cup of tea and a light snack during your visit to the garden.
The kids and I had a wonderful experience here. We were able to get a table on the second floor and the view was wonderful looking out over the garden. The food was delicious though a little more expensive than we expected. We ordered eight different items from the food menu to sample a little of everything in addition to the tea. They had different and unique flavors. We were surprised and pleased. :-) The atmosphere was relaxing and everyone was very friendly.
What a pleasantly serene location to wander through the gardens and finish with a lovely tea service. We arrived days before Chinese New Year and the gardens were impeccable. A definite must see when visiting portland, the Garden Teahouse will not disappoint.
Absolutely beautiful and peaceful. I had Jasmine Pearl tea, Red Beans Mooncake and Taoist Delight noodles.
