We had a great time.. I would have given more stars but they are not pet friendly.. If you are traveling with pets and it's a warm day.. you can't just leave your pets in the car..it's shame they don't allow pets.. As pet owners, we clean up after our pets better than most adults clean up after themselves or kids..

I have been here in the summer time and it's a VERY different experience now. There are zero restrooms if you want to take your kids to the park which is beautiful I'd suggest doing so before the potapotty are pretty bad. With little ones it does make it a bit hard. The trails are nice but as far as a day trip right now I would avoid it until they open things back up a little. At least the restrooms. The fort is closed till April. It's nice but I would avoid at least until things start opening back up.

This was such a calm, relaxing state park. It should be a 5 star but a water main was busted and we had to dry camp. The park did give an option to cancel BUT we wanted a white Christmas.

Though some of the park was closed, we did visit the beach along the Kentucky River. Lots of room to set up a canopy tent. The beach is Sandy and the river isn’t too fast here. Great place for a picnic!

Being a fan of living history, I was thrilled to live near the fort founded by Daniel Boone. It was one of our first explorations when we moved to KY. The buildings are fun to explore, and the people portraying life are interesting to talk to. The video in the first building, though obviously old, is fun to watch and learn about Daniel Boone. At the original fort, which is just a stone foundation, my kids would spend hours playing. The playground, though fun, was not the main attraction. Whether you want to picnic and play, or get immersed in history, Fort Boonesborough is a great place to go.
