Beautiful and well-preserved ghost town sitting on the top of a hill. The whole area is fully immersed in the nature and has a lot to explore. Half or full day trip from Rome. Pretty much unknown and out of the tourist tracks.

Who can ever know that there is a marvelous dilapidated hidden city built by the Etruscans in the suburbs of Rome? This alluring ancient site blew my mind. The easiest way to get there is to go down from Osteria Nuova to Santa Maria di Galeria. Take the first right after Santa Maria di Galeria. Pass the farm then you will reach the ruins. Upon reaching the coordinates of 42.025109, 12.306003 you will see that the road bifurcates. Take the right path. IMPORTANT WARNING: beware of wild pigs, deep vegetation holes and insects. For the ones who want to go alone like I did, be careful since the area is very remote and isolated. Also do not forget to wear proper trekking shoes for the ruins are located on a hill and the cobblestone road is so old.

Incredible discovery with an incredible history, right on the edge of Rome.

An amazing place, a ruined walled town lost in an evergreen oak wood. It has a church tower poking above the trees, and a river in a steep gorge. There's only one way in or out, and if you go there you will usually be all alone with the lizards and wild pigs.
