Famously know as the Disney Castle, Neuschwanstein Castle is in Bavaria. 1.5hrs drive from Stuttgart where we stayed. I would suggest to drive, you will find lots of beautiful places on the way. One can easily spend a day exploring the area around the castle. We didn’t go inside the castle, that would require another day I guess. The surrounding area is known for lots of hiking trails. For people who are money conscious I would suggest to carry food (lunch box, sandwiches, croissants , chocolates,...) and water bottle is a must.

Fairytale castle! We visited in the winter, so unfortunately the lookout to see the castle was closed due to the snow, but the entire area was beautiful covered in soft dreamy snow. We went with a tour group, so the tours were all arranged. Tip: would definitely recommend just walking up to the castle instead of waiting in line for the horse carriages. It's way faster and you're not stuck in a carriage with a bunch of people you don't know. Note: Visited prior to COVID; things may have changed.
A very beautiful & majestic castle with a bridge that allows for good photo opportunities. Views from the castle are breath taking. It isn't an easy place to describe.
This is a magical place! The castle is not medieval. King Ludwig II wanted to make a replica for himself. It is one of the few cases where the copy outperformed the original. Beautiful castle on top of a mountain with breathtaking views for even the most demanding. Super beautiful inside, with several rooms, each with a story. It was the second time I went there and it was the second time that my jaw dropped. Marienbrüke is a pedestrian bridge that overlooks the castle. Looking from there, it is easy to understand why Walt Disney was inspired and created the Snow White castle. To visit it is necessary to buy a ticket: if you plan to go there, buy online a few months in advance. In the summer, the daughter can buy up to 3 hours!
We visited about one year ago, December 2019. Such a wonderful and enchanting place to visit. Just the story behind how it was built was fascinating, but to see the beautiful structure up close was just magnificent!
