This review comes from someone with zero complications and who had their baby within an hour of arriving. I cannot imagine how bad it could be to have a long delivery at Swedish. I arrived at Swedish in full labor. They have no labor and delivery parking, so there's that. The behavior in the labor suite was awful. They tried to force me to deliver on my back and even tried holding me down. It took my husband yelling at them and telling them I'd already delivered one child on my hands and knees to get them off. No one would attempt to find an exercise ball for me. No one would tell me when I was contracting so that I could time my pushing. I honestly thought I was going to bleed out and die in that room. I was lucky that my delivery was only 15 minutes. Recovery care was fine - nurses were nice and helpful, though their nighttime routine was so disruptive that I never got a minute of sleep. The meals were yummy - that's the only positive. I wish I'd done a home birth. It would have been less traumatic and cheaper, too.

I love it! I love my nurses and my Midwife. I miss them dearly. Took very care of us and made sure we knew everything. Quick acting and respectful nurses/doctors!

I don’t think they support breastfeeding in a meaningful way. Their attitude/culture seems almost Victorian. The first thing they want to do is separate mom and baby so mom can rest and they’re continually sticking something plastic in the baby’s mouth. If breastfeeding is important to you, find and follow your own source of information-come prepared to tell the staff what you want from the very beginning.

I had my daughter in November 2017. I am a PA. I have never in my entire life received such inferior care nor have I ever provided such inferior care. My birth plan was not honored. Pitocin was started with out my concent and against my birth plan with out any clinical indication other than they were trying to rush my labor. Several rapid responses were called absolutely no one was assigned to talk with my husband about what was going on. I was young healthy and had an uncomplicated pregnancy. I was told by the staff midwife that I was dilated at 10 cm I began pushing got 45 minutes then later the midwife told me actually I was only 8 cm. After 30 hours of labor and several student nurses and residents later I had a c section. I believe if I had more competent nurses (people who weren't students) I wouldn't have gotten a c section. As icing on the cake the resident who did my anesthesia let the anesthesia run out while I was on the OR table and I felt the doctor close me. The surgeon did not stop when I was screaming in pain. They did not do delayed cord clamping or skin to skin post c section. My baseline BP is 90/50 the staff continued to fluid bolus me even though my BP was at baseline. I left 10 lb fluid over loaded and in severe pain due to edema. Absolutely incompetent staff. You can go anywhere to have your labor and delivery. Go to UW... this place sucks.
