Strolling down the prom on a fresh but sunny Sunday blows the cobwebs away. The beach was closed to cars but plenty of alternative parking available. The old fairground looked eerie being closed but not sure if this is a temporary or permanent closure.

Nice for a family day out. Sea is not in very often so when it is out there is plenty of room on the beach. Plenty of places for something to eat also. There are rides for kids and places to hire boats.
The tide was actually in on 18/09/2020! Not seen that fir a long time in the many visits we have made over the years! Pier café was the best place to see the sea!
I prefer Blackpool but Everytime I go to southport I spend most of my time walking on the beach the sea is far out but you can still walk to it just watch out for changes in the sand as it is soft and mushy in certain areas normally you can tell if it looks darker than the rest overall I would recommend going personally I prefer Blackpool as you don't have to walk far to the sea still a nice beach though !!!
Lovely for a day out, especially when the weather is lovely. There is a beach bar hot food and cold beer and soft drinks. They even sell ice cream which comes in lots of flavours
It's a nice clean beach. And it has so many nice shops ️
After coming here every week for 8 yrs we decided to retire here and now lived here for 2 yrs. Everyday, we go along the pier and stand and watch the families picnicking, playing football and building sandcastles. I think we have more dogs come to Southport beach than any other. When the tide comes in, which it DOES, honestly! children and dogs alike love it. My joy as a pensioner is to watch them all.
Love Southport . Beach and pier are all lovely. Great day out .
