Wow! Everything about the Yarn Barn is awesome. The selection of yarn, thread and colors are amazing. Prices are extremely reasonable as well. Enid is super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about all things needlepoint and craft related. Store hours fit her family schedule. But well worth being patient for.

Good selection of yarn. It was great to see Leon Alexander Yarn during the yarn crawl. Parking can be an issue, but there is additional in the back.
I love this place. So much yarn, and it's all so pretty. Good variety of width, material, and price. There's some really nice hand dyed yarn that I loved, but don't currently have the budget for (soon, though). I was shopping for yarn for a specific pattern and had never done this weight yarn before, so the owner was very helpful in helping me decide what to go with. I found some nice yarn that's in my budget and had a good conversation while the yarn was getting balled. Very good experience. They also has some awesome buttons and several books as well as hooks and needles for sale :)
My mother and I went to the Yarn Barn to buy yarn and needles for a cap that mom wanted to knit for me. The main associate was very helpful. Because it was a borderline case of uncertainty as to whether we would need one or two skeins of yarn, the associate told us we could buy two, and then bring the second one back and exchange it for something else if we didn’t end up needing it. At the time, we did not see the sign on the counter or the fine print on the receipt that returns needed to be done within 10 days of purchase. If the associate had verbally stated this timeline when she told us about the possibility of exchanging, we definitely would not have bought two skeins, as mom was not going to remotely finish the project within ten days. (Even if we had seen the printed policy on the counter or receipt, we would have thought it had nothing to do with us because it said nothing about exchanges—only returns. Anyway…) Mom did end up using only one skein, and when we went in to exchange the other unused one, she said we had missed the 10-day deadline. (Again, in her zeal to sell a second skein, she said we could exchange it, and did NOT say “…but you will need to finish the project within ten days and rush back in here with the unused yarn.” We were shocked, and thankful that it had been yarn for a small project and not a huge afghan or something! Mom had always liked shopping there, even though they were very overpriced, because she believes in supporting local businesses. As a kicker, after mom walked out, I told the associates that I was disappointed and was going to write an unfavorable review online. I turned and as I opened the door to leave, one of them hollered, “You’re evil!” Yikes. With service like that, from now on it’s robots at Amazon for me.
My husband and I are from Houston. We just stumbled upon the yarn barn. The shop is precious with such a variety of yarns and cross-stitch supplies. Enid the owner was very warm and helpful. We will definitely drop by when we are in town. I loved my experience here!
