My 5 year old daughter was pulled off the ice after the manager told her her parents did not pay (though we had paid and had the receipt the week before). Our Nanny then explained how inapprorpriate this was to do to a child and the manager proceeded to be rude and insulting even after showing her the receipt confirmation. My husband went down the next week to follow up and discuss this and was treated with the same disrespect. She took no ownership or accountability that the error had been on her part, let alone bring a five year old child into the mix. Very disappointing.

My son takes classes at the Waltham site. He struggled to learn, but the instructors never gave up on him. They always encouraged him to keep trying. After awhile, he finally got it. He's so happy he can skate now. Though he'll never be great, he has fun and doesn't want to stop.

Headed there originally to get my skates sharpened and ended up finding a weekly pickup game for adults that I've since then taken a part of a few times. The rink itself is very well laid out and maintained very well. Nick, one of the people running the place is very friendly and was helpful in helping me network with some of the guys playing so I could eventually join them for a pickup game. All four locker rooms are as clean as they could ever be and are heated as well which isn't always the case. But more importantly the ice sheet is fantastic and makes playing hockey there a very enjoyable experience. This rink sets a high standard for other rinks in the Boston area for sure and I doubt that you'd be able to easily find a better one that this. Hockey aside, they have a ton of stuff happening there so check out their site for various hours. They have pickup games, high school games, stick and pucks, public skates and loads more.

Look out if your kid doesn't want to go after 2 times your almost 150 are gone. It's not one on one class where they are dedicating one instructor for your child so ..... If your child can stand up and and walk by himself with may be 5 % of instructor attention then go for it otherwise it's really waste of money as we did. Lots of people backed off after first class and got their money back as when we went for second time it was almost half the kids than the first time. It is really disappointing to know that they are not willing to give at least some refund if the kid is refusing and not at all succeeding and there is nobody who will make him feel comfortable or teach lovingly. Basically it is for kids who can do it by themselves with no or very minimal support. It was really disappointing experience , and we lost our hard earned money for nothing.

Most of the Bay State Skating instructors in Quincy, it seems, they are not well educated/trained. There is only one lady instructor In Quincy which was very kind and friendly, but unfortunately she is not working with the kids - she is training only adults. First, they do not know how to interact with the kids and/or parents, and second, they do not seem to have any passion for their work. I have the feeling that they are just waiting for the time to pass, and get the money for that day. Their language is very brutal with the kids, my daughter had to cry many times just because of the way they interacted with her. They don't have any kindness toward the kids, very cold people. I tried to approach one of the instructor to explain some of the needs my daughter may have, but she didn't show any kind of interest - her attitude was very cold toward us, she didn't show any kind of interest of learning about the needs of the kids. So disappointing!!!
