Fonkoze USA is an American 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to securing financial and technical support for its Haitian partners - whose mission is to empower Haitians, primarily women, with the tools, resources and support needed to lift their families out of poverty. It educates the American public about Fonkoze’s work (fonkoze.org) in Haiti, facilitates technical assistance for the two Haitian entities and raises money to support Fonkoze’s programs. Fonkoze USA is an amazing non-profit that supports the empowerment, education, and hope for women throughout Haiti. The organization provides small business training/education and solidarity groups for women in rural Haiti. This provides a level of hope and education that can be passed along to other women and members of their community. By taking a teaching first mentality (not giving), Fonkoze stands out as an organization that stands out among other non-profits.

Fonkoze is an example of what makes Haiti great, through its micro finance institutions in rural Haiti and related services that empower women and their families to achieve prosperity. Its sister organization, Fonkoze USA, spreads awareness and raises necessary funds to send back to Fonkoze for the important work it does in Haiti. Thank you Fonkoze!

When I went to Haiti in 2008 I immediately saw that Fonkoze is actually making a difference in the lives of the rural poor in Haiti. They have microfinance branches all over the country - some so remote that you can only reach them by dirt bike or walking. I have supported them ever since. The more involved I have become the more I am impressed by the difference it makes for an organization to be based in the country it is trying to improve. Last year a Fonkoze program used their country wide network to identify and treat malnourished children and was responsible for treating over 5,000 children - more than half of all children identified as needing care last year. Fonkoze USA is the fundraising partner of these incredible Haitian organizations who are devoted to working with Haitians to lift their families out of poverty. It's name is an acronym FONdasyon KOle ZEpòl (Shoulder to Shoulder Foundation) that clearly understands that poverty alleviation is only possible when we work with each other. For 25 years Fonkoze has been a Haitian institution that has now become a major employer and tax payer. All three institutions are transparent - posting their financial information on line. My financial contribution to empower their work is one of the best investments I make each year.

Fonkoze is a breath of fresh air when it comes to nonprofits. They are transparent and focus on empowering Haitian women, not spoon-feeding them. This organization helps strengthen Haitian communities regarding healthcare, education, employment, and self-worth. Fonkoze is doing something right!!!

There are a lot of nonprofits out there \helping\ Haiti and it's hard to know who you can trust. Fonkoze is one of those that you can absolutely trust. They are Haitian based and have been empowering the poorest in Haiti for over 2 decades. This is an incredible organization, making a real difference.

Having worked in the international development space and specifically microfinance for several decades, I can say with all certainty that Fonkoze is a leader in the industry and the premier bank for the poor in Haiti. The organization doesn't see its work as charity but rather as a pathway out of poverty for clients and program participants.

Not only is Fonkoze a Haitian institution helping women all over Haiti, but it also provides employment in a country where there are few jobs.
